1. The Matter
A Japanese family register was required for use in the United States. Our office was engaged to handle the Japan-side document process.
2. Japan-Side Document Process
The engagement involved a Japanese public document issued in Japanese. Our office coordinated the Japan-side authentication process and prepared the corresponding certified English translation for overseas submission.
3. Work Performed
Our office:
- handled the Ministry of Foreign Affairs apostille process for the Japanese public document;
- prepared a complete English translation with our certification of translation accuracy; and
- arranged international delivery of the completed documents.
4. Deliverables
The completed Japan-side package included:
- the Japanese family register with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs apostille;
- the certified English translation; and
- international dispatch of the completed documents.
5. Scope Boundary
Our engagement was limited to the Japan-side document process described above. Acceptance, evidentiary treatment, and any subsequent decision remained within the authority of the receiving institution.
